Ummm... let's say no, because then what about armor? Equipment? And well, the whole bloody character?

Nah. Want a new primary, make a new character.

The problem with characters developed in GW is that they are only unique in a superficial way. When I played Neverwinter Nights and went through the single player game all my choices on the character were permanent and so I ended up with a fairly unique character at the end of the game. I would not change that character. Torment was even more unique in this respect. I played it through 3 or 4 times with a completely different result in each case. I would love to see a game like Torment done with an engine as good as the GW one but I think the work to do that would be huge.

I feel quite attached to my own chars in GW. The system allows me to change their setups to suit the task, all I was asking is to extend this setup to the point where if I was sitting in Domain of Anguish and somebody needed a monk and my monk character had not yet got to this point I could change the setup to suit this task. If I had to have a set of Monk armour and a change of weapons to suit this or I was made to look like Talkhora or Dunkora for the duration of the change, it would only be an extension to the current gameplay in the game.

The fact that character is GW are so easily changed is one of the great points of the game. Unfortunately characters at the end of the game are not terribly unique in abilities.

That's why GW has never been a game of abilities but one of skill.

You can have to different people both playing the exact same monk where one will prevail and another will not.
The reason behind this is because they mastered the profession.
While i can understand and respect your reasoning behind this it's not a viable one to just completely change the state of the game.

that is what secondary professions are for. so u can change ur char to suit the situation. if ur wammo cant cut it as a bonder with 2regen and max 3 energy blessed sig, sb with 2 second spellbreaker, or watever then you obviously playing with the wrong char. you said u "certainly arent lazy". but ur askin for this change so you dont have to be bothered getting your monk to doa and can jus change your wammo to a monk build. what is the point of having primary or secondary professions when your proposing ppl jus be watever they want and use watever skills/armor they want?
characters ARE unique in abilities. give an example of how a primary/secondary combo deals with something and the opposite combo deals with it the same way with the same difficulty (ie 55n/mo and 55mo/n) and someone can give you a million other ways that the opposite combo cant do as good as the original. (ie 55n/mo cant handle massive degen but mo/ can switch to /d and get massive regen.) if im not mistaken, youre saying you want to be able to (using these examples) make your n/mo change primary to mo/ and then use /d secondary. making your character into a whole different character. youre basically askin for an instant create/delete pvp char thats usable in pve.

Kind of an old thread, but i have been thinking about this lately.

I have a warrior that is 5 titles away from GAMM. I really don't think it is gonna be fun grinding out those last 5 titles as a warrior, as im very sick of the same ol same ol with my warrior. I do not have enough time to get my sin all these titles, and i sure don't have the cash.

I wonder how many other people have a char like mine that they are sick of playing and want so badly to change their primary.

Perhaps by completing some crazy quests, or maybe that could be a benefit to having KOABD title, i would even pay cash to have my primary changed.

From a purely technical point of view this is not possible in GW. The character, skill and armor systems would have to be completely reworked to radically different ones.

Depending on the design choices of GW2 it might be possible there, and ANet's insistence on rewarding single character play might be seen as evidence for that.

The title of this thread should read: Ability to Change the Game Completely and in every way.

ZOMGYES.

And by that, I mean no.

Switching primaries is maybe a bit too much, but the ability to put all kinds of runes on your armor sounds interesting to me. Maybe not a superior one but at least minor runes of the second profession could work imo.

not being able to equip primary attribute runes of other classes i can understand, but non primary....

of course if they did this it would require buffing primary attribute skills of certain classes.

No. Just, no. It's like changing a character completely. And one big, NO.

Hmmm, I would love to quote all "no's" to this idea and put QTF under it, but there are just so many. This is a dumb, and rather impossible, idea. /notsigned and +1

^Says the person who puts +1

If you were to triple my storage as well, than maybe. I barely have the room to store my mains armour as is. Let me change primary's as well and there's no place to put my armour. And you can't change primary without being forced to change armour, else I'll just run around in my warrior armour with my soul reaping form my changed primary

Nightmares of programming and balance galore.

o wait, pve only? Still bad. I wouldn't want to dare try it unless Ursan had its own profession, and that would just be for kicks.

1. lolwut? Warrior is probably the easiest class to get GWAMM on.
2. Change primary = change character.

I wouldn't normally close a thread for being really really dumb...
